Client/Person Directed Care
Workshop Details
An experiential and reflective workshop providing strategies to embed client/person centred work into clinical practice. Client directed practice is the single most important factor as a vehicle for true restoration and empowerment in all client work.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the role of the person of the counsellor/worker in client directed care
- Learn to take direction from clients: following their lead; adopting their language, goals, world view and ideas about their ‘problem’ and acknowledging their understanding and experiences of the change process
- Share ways to manage therapists prior assumptions about methodology and session management
- Incorporate the client’s perception and experience as a routine part of the therapeutic process including: goal setting, session duration and outcome evaluation
- Apply strength based practice principles to ensure the client is central in all clinical practice
- Practice, through role plays and case examples, client engagement and other techniques central to client/person directed care
